ULTRAMAT 6 is a gas analyzer working on the principle of non-dispersive (without spectral decomposition) infrared (NDIR) spectrometry for determination of concentration of gases having selective absorption. ULTRAMAT 6 uses the principle of antiphase transmission of radiation, divided into two beams by gas-filled beam divider, through measuring cell filled with sample and reference cell filled with gas that does not absorb infrared radiation. One or two gases are measured with high level of selectivity, whereby absorption bands of such gases fall within the range of infrared wave-length from 2 to 9 µm, such as CO, CО2, NO, SО2, NH3, H2О, CH4 and other hydrocarbons.

Detector consists of two layers and is filled with measurable gas having certain concentration. Physically preconditioned transverse susceptibility can be limited to a minimum by gas-filled beam divider, two-layer detector with optical interface device (optical extension of detection chamber) and, if necessary, additional optical filters. High selectivity of ULTRAMAT 6 is based on this.
